What is going to annoy me is that I am using this hack because I keep needing to dismiss "enable cloud based protection" on my machines daily, ...

So of course somewhere in the future that might get fixed, but I will never notice it nor will I ever get any other notifications from the software, go microsoft.

I, too, was annoyed by the demand that I "set up cloud-based protection," and I didn't want to use OneDrive at all, so I just uninstalled OneDrive, and deleted all of the OneDrive folders I could find on C:\. Done.

Win version 21H1 (OS build 19043.1288)
I tried using both Options 3 and 4. Neither one stopped "File Download - Security Warning" popup.
    What did I miss?

[1] Did you try Rebooting the computer to see if that made a difference?
[2] Is it one of these that you maybe want instead? . . .

    I did reboot.

This is the security warning i get every time I click on a desktop shortcut. I would like to not have to answer this every time.

    Hello @oldtraveler,

It is the SmartScreen that gives that message . . .

Also, have a look at this => How to Unblock a File in Windows 10

Have a look at the Related Tutorials at the BOTTOM of BOTH of the above Tutorials [ there are a few ], as they may also be related.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks Paul for responding. Unfortunately none of the options worked to keep that popup from appearing when I click on a desktop shortcut.
