How to Enable or Disable Fullscreen Optimizations for Apps and Games in Windows 10

Windows 10 introduced a new feature called fullscreen optimizations that is enabled by default. Fullscreen optimizations may lead to better gaming and app performance when they are running in fullscreen mode. However, some people have reported that fullscreen optimizations doesn't always improve gaming and app performance.

is it just me or are these options missing in the new 1803/RS4 release? Running into an issue in a game that may or may not be related but the checkbox to "show in verified games" as well as the global under grapihcs settings is also not there.

Actually "advanced graphics settings" is just called "graphics settings" weird.

    Hello klepp, :)

    Hmm, it's not just you.

It appears that only options 3, 4, and 5 are available now in Windows 10 version 1803. At least not in build 17650 for me.

Options are missing with 17134.1 I don't know about 17133.1 as I didn't check that version.

Does changing FSEBehavior from 0 to 2 no longer work, or does it require a restart? Just tested with a game and while using the checkbox under compatibility disables it fine adding/changing the registry value for FSEBehavior did nada.

You can test restarting the computer to apply, but it appears that only options 4 or 5 1 and 2 are valid now. The registry settings for these would be for the DISABLEDXMAXIMIZEDWINDOWEDMODE string value for the app like in option 3 below.

As usual. Thank you brink. Just wanted to make sure before I delete the FSEBehavior key as it doesn’t seem to be a default anymore, nor do anything.

I presume that link you provided requires being done on a per app basis?

edit - yep looks that way. But I could at least compile an ever running reg file to enable/disable en masse when I add a new title

what does the FSEBehaviorMode key apply to then? Default is 2 and regardless of what I play with in settings gamemode/dvr wise doesn’t seem to change its value

Correct. Option 1 and 2 in this same tutorial are only per app one by one.

I see why you have that “spread rep around” rule. You’d end up with the lions share lol
