    I've repaired/reinstalled windows yesterday and I've just been met with this stealth "you must have it on" despite disabling game bar/dvr and using the regedit trick you mentioned prior FSEBehaviour. I've also added the AllowGameDVR to 0 under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GameDVR as someone had advised trying that

    All my games are locking to 144 fps though, the only way is to go over every individual app to ""disable full screen optimisations" now??

    surely there is a universal nuke method, I don't like this is being forced upon us

    I also noticed "advanced graphics" option is no longer available so I wasn't able to do it via there any more

    Hello Owen,

    You can try this below to see if it may still work for you to disable fullscreen optimization for all apps, or at least cut down on how many you have to manually set in properties. You may need to restart the computer after changing to apply.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore

    GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode DWORD

    0 = Enabled
    2 = Disabled

    thanks Brink I had tried this in regedit among various others people had suggested with on luck. It worked on some games but some unreal engine games didnt like that and its been killing me inside trying to fix it for hours. In honesty I done a repair of windows recently after some issues, so after this and something else I'm actually just finished blanking my full NVMe system drive of 600gb of stuff and I've reinstalled windows fresh as it was working fine up until I "repaired" it.

    I am hoping these issues have been solved, will soon find out once I start putting drivers on and getting set up again.

    thanks though <3

    Yea I spent a solid day on it. Renaming the children key in the registry. Adding all the common edits as far as behavior/behavior mode/honorfsebehavior etc.

    I think MS killed it with the newer wddm perhaps.

    You can test restarting the computer to apply, but it appears that only options 4 or 5 1 and 2 are valid now. The registry settings for these would be for the DISABLEDXMAXIMIZEDWINDOWEDMODE string value for the app like in option 3 below.

    Hey I just wanna say thank you so much for this. This reduced my input lag by so much, I've been looking for 5 years for a permanent solution and have been getting ever so close. There was only one way I could find to disable DWM in this megathread, but it's not a practical method. I'M SO CLOSE TO FINISHING MY INPUT LAG! - Blur Busters Forums

    Your guide plus this guy's tweak works really well although I'm not sure if I should be using both DISABLEDXMAXIMIZEDWINDOWEDMODE and DISABLEDWM at the same time. is there a way to disable DWM on Windows 10 1903+? - Super User

    Another last resort method.

    One last DWM tweak I found. You wouldn't have a better way to disable DWM and bring back the classical fullscreen would you? I know it's possible to bring back the old Alt-Tab function and old volume mixer, so it's possible?

    Hello Ramen, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    I'm glad this was able to help.

    DISABLEDWM doesn't appear to be an available compatibility mode setting in Windows 10 by default, so I'm not sure it will work. You can always test and see, and remove it if not.

    I'm not sure either with DWM disabled.

    Ayo Brink!

    Sorry to be of a bother, especially on an old forum such as this!

    Seems I have run into a problem with attempting to disable Exclusive fullscreen mode. While it has done a great job of lowering input delay, I cannot STAND how long it takes to Alt+tab, and therefore want to disable that option and go back to windows default fullscreen settings. Here are things to note:

    AdamX, a YT channel that helped with starting these optimizations, has created a pack that I applied to the registry, here are the settings and DWORD's he added:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 --- Registry File By Adamx

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore]
    "GameDVR_Enabled"=dword:00000000
    "GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000002
    "GameDVR_HonorUserFSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000000
    "GameDVR_DXGIHonorFSEWindowsCompatible"=dword:00000001
    "GameDVR_EFSEFeatureFlags"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\ApplicationManagement\AllowGameDVR]
    "value"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GameDVR]
    "AllowGameDVR"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR]
    "AppCaptureEnabled"=dword:00000000
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I have been doing quite a lot of looking up, and setting the GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000002 to 0 instead of 2 is simply not doing the trick, even after a restart.

    Also to note, I have not tried changing any other settings in the registry, for fear of an entire system breakdown lol.

    Final note, I, like the genius I am, failed to set a system restore point before making changes. Nice...

    Anyways, sorry for the long essay, hope this explains my problem!!

    Hello @X9 Cobra, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    If it helps, here are the default values for what you posted. You can try setting them back to default, and restart the computer to hopefully undo them.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore]
    "GameDVR_Enabled"=dword:00000000
    "GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000000
    "GameDVR_HonorUserFSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000000
    "GameDVR_DXGIHonorFSEWindowsCompatible"=dword:00000000
    "GameDVR_EFSEFeatureFlags"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\ApplicationManagement\AllowGameDVR]
    "value"=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GameDVR]
    "AllowGameDVR"=-

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR]
    "AppCaptureEnabled"=dword:00000000

    Thanks for that, and thanks for the welcome!!

    I reset all the values to their defaults, just like the code you provided. They did not seem to do the trick, is there any other underlying issue that may be causing my Alt+tab black screen issue? If not, that's just fine. I might reset windows while keeping my personal files, as that was my last option. Anything you can provide or think of will help! Otherwise, I'll go ahead and refresh my windows :)

    Note to self: restore points can save a few hours of work

    I'm not sure what else to suggest since we undid what you set, and it's still not working properly.
