This drives me crazy. I have three different computers, all on the same 1903 and on one of them this happens while it does not on the other two.
I suspect it has to do with the upgrade to 1903. Those that came with 1903 do not exhibit this, while my laptop that has been updated to 1903 does.
I have Win 10 Pro 1903.
I had "ENG" in the sys tray, and wanted to remove it.
I used Option Two, but with one additional step. That's because Option Two turns off the newer "ENG", but (for me) simultaneously turns on the older "EN", in a different taskbar location.
My following steps are the same as in the tut:
Settings > Devices > Typing > Advanced Keyboard Settings
Now, in my case, "Use the desktop langugage bar when it is available" was unchecked. I checked it. The "ENG" disappeared from its location.
However, the much older "EN"appeared in a different location. That feature is not mentioned in the tutorial. But the first screenshot in the tutorial above shows both examples. In other words, I think ENG and EN do different things - but I have never found either of them useful enough to use valuable screen real estate.
So I right-clicked on EN, and selected "Hidden". That was the extra step.
Thanks.
Hello mate,
Checking "Use the desktop langugage bar when it is available" will use the language bar floating on the desktop like in the example screenshots at the top of the tutorial. Unchecking the box will use the newer language bar in the taskbar notification area.
Selecting "Hidden" like in option 3 will indeed hide the language bar completely.
.
Yes, it looks as if you covered all my points in the tuts.
I should use my specs, but I can't remember where I put them in the fridge.
Option One: Turn On or Off Input Indicator in Settings
Is it possible to do so via a REG or batch file?
Option Four refers to Language Bar, not Input Indicator.
Is it possible to enable the language bar via a registry tweak? I want to enable it on UAC prompts.
Hello,
Option 4 shows the registry changes for the language bar, but it requires at least sign out/in to apply. I'm not sure about having it only show for UAC prompts though.
Turn On or Off Language Bar and Input Indicator in Windows 10
From what i know, that doesn't enable the show desktop language bar option.
