How to Turn On or Off Text Suggestions for Touch Keyboard in Windows 10


You can use different keyboards with Windows to fit your needs. The most common is a physical, external hardware keyboard that you plug into your PC. Windows 10 includes a touch keyboard for PCs.

Starting with Windows 10 build 17063, you will now see text suggestions to select from by default while typing on the touch keyboard.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off show text suggestions as you type using the touch keyboard for your account in Windows 10.

OPTION ONE

Turn On or Off Text Suggestions for Touch Keyboard in Settings


1. Open Settings, and click/tap on the Devices icon.

2. Click/tap on Typing on the left side, and turn on (default) or off Show text suggestions as I type on the software keyboard for what you want under Typing on the right side. (see screenshot below)

3. You can now close Settings if you like.

OPTION TWO

Turn On or Off Text Suggestions for Touch Keyboard using a REG file



The downloadable .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7

EnableTextPrediction DWORD

0 = Off
1 = On


1. Do step 2 (on) or step 3 (off) below for what you would like to do.


 2. To Turn On Text Suggestions for Touch Keyboard

This is the default setting.

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

 3. To Turn Off Text Suggestions for Touch Keyboard

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

4. Save the .reg file to your desktop.

5. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

6. When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

7. You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
