Norton, BullGuard, Avast, AVG, and Avira under the same ownership

McAfee’s consumer division has just been purchased by investors. NortonLifeLock, which produces the Norton Security consumer AV product, is taking over Avast. This means that the Norton, BullGuard, Avast, AVG, and Avira security products will be under the same ownership.
Hi,
Norton a wretched company surprised anyone still uses them frankly.
Avast wise just bloated themselves up so badly guess norton owns ccleaner now too lol

AVs are going extinct, similar to firewalls, there are currently 2-3 that are not based on windows firewall API. Within 5 years, 3rd party AVs will be mostly for companies and users, who need more granular control, everyone else will use Defender. I guess we will not see many free AVs either aside a few lost souls like Immunet or Chinese AVs, that are just front end banners for companies like Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba.

It's sad to see these massive corps turn everything into a monopoly, destroy competition, and variety. Not to mention the incredible power they have over us, even going as far as to control what we're allowed to say.

Well, it cannot be a monopoly by definition as there are many independents but who neeeds those anyway. Defender is fine.
NortonLifeLock to Buy Avast for as Much as $8.6 Billion
Seems to be good for the consumer providing there is a free product. Avast may have lost market after the accusation last year of sharing user data with marketers.
Excerpts:
...
No contest I'm guessing.
Just wondered if Bullguard has any advantages for online gaming that ESET doesn't?
I've been using ESET on all my computers and phones for years. £5 a month and I'm covered.
I'm guessing Bullguard is just crapware...
Try them free for 30 days. Norton Security ask an email and a password to send the product key validation. Also, you need the email and the password to complete the installation.
Norton Utilities won't ask anything. You'll be ask to reboot:...
