Two factor authentication (TFA) is easy, convenient, and secure when you use Microsoft Authenticator. Use your phone, not your password, to log into your Microsoft account. Just enter your username, then approve the notification sent to your phone. Your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN will provide a second layer of security in this two step verification process. After you’ve signed in with two factor authentication (TFA), you’ll have access to all your Microsoft products and services, such as Outlook, OneDrive, Office, and more.

So in order to make Windows secure this way, it now means anybody with accrss to phone can bypass it. So now you have to lock down phone access in order to make windows secure LOL. Of course, one should do it but I use feature that unlocks phone based on geo location to avoid having to enter pattern all the time.

So if you use this new feature, you have to consider how phone unlocks as well.

My point is people may get lulled into a false sense of security.

I dispute use of 2FA for windows is necessarily safer.

    Hi,
    Okay another track me app

Even banks give options for text/ email verification codes/ call you/ even this is pretty annoying frankly for entering the correct user name and password
But make no mistake you need a password/ three security questions/ pin/ and cell phone number/ fingerprint, face ID feel like a pole vaulter yet lol

Because you leave your phone lying around so hackers can use it, or because you do nothing if it's lost or stolen?

Of course I never blooming leave it lying around in public but parents (for example) may lock down pc but leave phone lying unlocked for a few moments. Children often try every trick under the sun to bypass parental security constraints!

My point is 2FA is only secure if you lock down phone. So if you use an unlock method like geolocation, it may not be as secure as you think!
