I retired my Windows phones a long time ago. Shame because my Windows phones were the best! Without the support I bailed out when I had the offer to update my phone.

I think the main problem with Windows phones was that Ms tried to make the main Desktop Windows OS resemble a "big mobile phone" -- hence the fiasco with Windows 8 if people can remember what a hideous OS that was.

From that point Ms really had no choice but to "Wind down" its mobile phone systems as it was a hideous tainted brand -- and in any case developing apps for Windows phones was by no means such a trivial exercise such as developing for Android phones -- don't know about iPhones but again as OS'es for both these phones are essentially "Linux" type OS'es Apps probably could be made for both fairly easily whereas Windows is a totally different OS of course.

Ms obviously decided attempting to supply that market wasn't good business sense after W8 had essentially been flushed down the toilet.

I still have a mint and boxed Lumia 1020 (yellow), 930 (black/gold) and 650 (black). I only wish MS had supported the concept better as it might survived if they had.

they were pretty good phones too bad MS messed up

Well, I for one love windows 8, prefer it over Windows 10 any day of the week and twice on Tuesday.
Is there really a Windows 10? or hasn't it morphed into an 11, 12 or 13ish, or maybe call it Windoze Infinity.

Each to their own - but for lots of people using multiple screens and quite complex apps the lack of decent cascading menus and sensible multi - windowing rather than full screen and endlessly having to scroll horizontally was (and is) a deal breaker -- for simple apps - essentially mobile phone type of things there's no problems but if you want to do complex scientific things say like using CAD for machine design etc which have loads and loads of options and sub menus - without cascading menus the thing becomes unworkable.

W8 was also hideously unworkable for even this simple scenario -- EXCEL worksheet with some text and powerpoint - the slides you wanted to translate into another language --without decent multi windowing the task gets hideously complicated and prone to errors. You need to see both the source language and the target language concurrently while translating and also the EXCEL spreadsheet where you are going to insert the slides.

BTW Happy (and SAFE) new year to everyone -- must be better than 2020 !!!
