    I remember the days when I had a deep ambition to get a 950XL but it was way too pricey - for me.

    Hi there
    Each to their own - but for lots of people using multiple screens and quite complex apps the lack of decent cascading menus and sensible multi - windowing rather than full screen and endlessly having to scroll horizontally was (and is) a deal breaker -- for simple apps - essentially mobile phone type of things there's no problems but if you want to do complex scientific things say like using CAD for machine design etc which have loads and loads of options and sub menus - without cascading menus the thing becomes unworkable.

    W8 was also hideously unworkable for even this simple scenario -- EXCEL worksheet with some text and powerpoint - the slides you wanted to translate into another language --without decent multi windowing the task gets hideously complicated and prone to errors. You need to see both the source language and the target language concurrently while translating and also the EXCEL spreadsheet where you are going to insert the slides.

    BTW Happy (and SAFE) new year to everyone -- must be better than 2020 !!!

    Cheers

    I remember when 8 came out, some techy people were praising it's bold new look and style, and how it surpassed windows 7 antiquated functionality and it's hideous GUI, and now history repeats itself. I loved XP, Windows 7, along with 8, but 10 not so much.

    It is a preference, that is what life is all about?

    Feliz Navidad to All

    Hi there

    XP still IMO had the best theme -- here's the LUNA BLACK running on an XP Virtual machine with VMWARE workstation on a Linux NAS. The Wallpaper features a nice Jaguar too !!!!

    I paid $300.00 for my 950XL from AT&T. One of the things I liked about the Windows phones was that the were cheap enough to buy so I didn't have get locked into a contract. IMHO the Windows Phone failed because MS waited to long to get into the mobile phone market.

    Agree completely. That is when M$ thought they ruled the computing universe, the only thing that comes to mind is;

    "NA, NANA,NANA, NA NA ... you waited to long,
    I told you so.."

    Silly pickles! Couldn't even buy their way out of that blunder, somewhat like IE an Edge ..

    Which brings us to this fact;

    All of the pre-Windows 10 versions ... included tools that taught how to use a PC, it's Works Suite (Word processing, Excel, Picture It, Money), Media Player for music and video, Games. How many hours did users invest in those? all free.

    ...to be stripped away (for most practical purposes) in Windows 10, all it teaches us, is how to be stupid.

    That's why I am not fond of it, IMHO.

    Hi there

    @Winuser

    You didn't then and don't now ever have to buy a Mobile phone contract --- the problem I think though with typical education systems is that kids at an early age aren't taught anything about money, compound interest, loans and how businesses work -- this IMO should be taught at a very early age.

    It's always been cheaper (by far) to buy a mobile phone outright and then just get a SIM only deal than take a contract out -- and I think it was only EU law a little while ago that insisted monthly contract prices should be lowered after the user had paid for the phone. Contract prices include a monthly amount to pay for the phone --these days network costs (to the provider) are quite small !!!! the majority of your monthly fee is going into paying for phone and company profits.

    EU law also now (not before time !!!) forbids "Locked phones"-- i.e phones that are initially locked into a specific network --however it was always easy to find people who could "unlock phones" -- not sure of the status of that system in USA though.

    For people who like expensive phones --it's still cheaper to buy it up front - and if you don't want to pay the whole amount up front just use a credit card or a bank loan - both these options are far cheaper than using a contract !!! (and for the younger ones --there's the possibility also of "The Bank of Mum and Dad" !!!!!).

    Cheers

    I have a Galaxy S9 from AT&T that is almost off contract. If I wanted to upgrade to a Galaxy S10 the full price would be $749.99 or $25.00 a month for 30 months. Not exactly what I would call affordable. Yes there are cheaper options but I'm not going with those cheap contactless phones from places like Walmart.

    Hi,
    xFinity wireless dude I switched 5 months ago way better than at&t but you couldn't give me a win-10 driven cell phone lol
    iPhoneSE 32gb the only free phone I've ever gotten that was indeed free at Zero cost besides a little pay by the gig contract that is a whopping 25.us lol
    Wasted so much money with at&t over the years it's stunning.

    Internet now 700mbps lol

    That's an excellent price. At the time I looked, if memory serves it was 549 with a dock or something.
    I agree with that reason because I had a 730 and the screen was beautiful and sturdy and I had a weird joy moving those tiles around, lol.
    Now I am a Note user like half of the world or something.
