Globespy, if you think that latency is causing you sound problems, take a look in BIOS and look for anything that has Spread Spectrum Clocking and change it from auto to disabled:
    PCIe Spread Spectrum Clocking
    BCLK Spread Spectrum
    VRM Spread Spectrum

Sets them to a stable setting, instead of allowing them to fluctuate.(spread bandwidth)

    The bass punch is back.
But the highs are just a little overdriven on Chrome for my taste.

Although.... they sound damn good on the new Edge

And really good on MediaMonkey beta version 5.

Interesting. I might play with 8688 this weekend, if I get enough time to do so (or even tonight, as my plans to go see Endgame fell through, so it'll be Sunday).

I'm still solidly 'stuck' (I use that term 'stuck' loosely, as we are choosing to do so) on 8648, as more than a few of us here are, it seems.

    Oh, and Sepultura!

Personally I don't think you'll like build 8688 John. The bass is good and the instrument separation is excellent. However the top end can sound a bit gritty at times.

8688 is the new winner of the year for me. The sound spectrum kicks ass again, and I don't have issue with the top end which I am liking better too.

Agreed, I never touch BCLK because if you need to start playing with that to get stable, then you are in territory that likely isn't 100% stable for daily use.

    Back to sound drivers.
Just ran latency mon and says I have issues.
    Any ideas?

The LatencyMon is really not reliable and just a snake oil application. Please kindly ignored it!

Hey, was on 8475, did update to 8648 last week and while the sound got a lot more clear didn't feel the bass i had experienced several times with some Movie Trailers + my most recurrent songs on Youtube/Spotify and .WAV/FLAC local files. (Some Trance songs i used to listen every single day). Will try 8688 to see if actually improves on this side!

Like I said before, which driver is best, depends on what program on is consuming the media with.
None of the drivers work perfect with all browsers, or all media players.

And in the case of my setup, if ASUS updates and makes changes to the effects default setting to either Sonic Studio III or the Realtek Audio Console's amplify level settings, I wouldn't know or notice, and think it was the driver.

But to test I always leave my settings the same(even re-import them from a saved file to make sure).
