Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version
-
Yes asturias7 the thread has been cleaned up a bit. About time really as there were a lot of dead links from the days when we had access to the Realtek ftp server.
Yeah I figured...
plus, some people were posting off-topic and totally steering elsewhere. I'm OK with discussing sound here, but sometimes I think some people are plugging other software or hardware. Topic is called "Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version"... just saying.
Anyhow, let's all please stay on-topic here...
me included.

Not yet. I know it's been floating around for the past few days, but I'm waiting for the official release on MUC.

Does anyone know what MS is up to with HW IDs and these drivers? Performing an "Update driver" in Device Manager returns no new driver, yet clearly there is one, since I could install via the CAB, which wouldn't work if Device Manager had been correct.
Furthermore, the HW IDs listed in the details of the drivers in MU must be very incomplete, since there is only one string on many of them, and a handful at most on some others. Maybe this is what Device Manager is checking against, explaining why it thinks there isn't an update. I know my HW ID wasn't in the description of any of the ones I checked, including the one I actually installed, but obviously it must be in the .INF.
Also strange: there are two X64 drivers for FCU. Maybe I just happened to pick the "right" one on the first try, but maybe the other would have worked, too. They were not even close to each other in size either (I picked the large one), which is strange for both being AMD64 and multi-language.
In short, not a lot makes sense here, but it installed and worked,
