Is there an easy way to replace HDA drivers with UAD? From what I have seen on forums, it takes a rocket scientist tbh? Maybe getting UAD drivers would fix my Headset problem.

Hi MattKC welcome to the forums

I personally only recommend UAD drivers to those with gaming laptops or desktops, whose OEMs offer the 3rd party Avolute/Nahimic drivers and software like ASUS ROG does(I think Gigabyte does too and maybe MSI) otherwise without the Nahimic and additional software you get only drivers and no EQ & effects like the Realtek HD Audio Manager that one gets with the HDA drivers.

What is you machine(OEM and model)?

I have been reading this thread and everyone seems to like the 8648 version, however I cannot find this version for the asus rog z390 motherboard as the link on their forum is down. Does anyone have a mirror?

    Hi Cliff thnx,
mine is not a gaming laptop, it is Asus N76VB with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio // MaxxAudio, I used to have those, Audio Wizard or the MaxxAudio control panel where u can adjust many things but since the last huge windows update it's all gone, even when I install the HDA driver FF06 with Maxxaudio, the maxx audio or audio wizard features are not working, arent there. Maybe my whole instalation is messed up, that is probably why my laptop has problems with my headset, especially the mic. Was wondering If switching to UAD would solve those as I ran out of options.

Which Realtek codec chip do you have?
Dimitri @ddelo made a script you can run in powershell that you can paste the output, or make a screenshot of, and post here.

Go to section '2 in his tutorial.

Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio

I have the FF06, the one with MaxxAudio stuff, currently I have 8648 HDA installed, ALC663 Audio Codec. Is that what you were asking about?

    Ok, Matt.
I'm uploading a copy of the best drivers(8648)FFO6 version I have to my OneDrive share folder.
When it's done I will pm you a link to it.
When you get it, don't forget to unblock it in properties before unpacking it.
Then you need to totally uninstall the ones you have now. You might want to see also if the MAXXAudio also need to be separatly uninstalled. I recommend using Geek Uninstaller to do it.
    Reboot.
Then go into regedit and delete the registry keys to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Realtek\Audio (see if MaxxAudio has it's own key there also) if they are still there.
    Reboot
If you have a system search tool like Everything or UltraSearch, use that to search Realtek and MaxxAudio.

    Then Install the new drivers.

I can't answer your PM but thank you, it's working. I did a clean install, on driverstoreexplorer I couldn't find anything mentioned on the notes. I didn't notice any difference on sound but I didn't try yet with headphones, just using speakers.
