Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

You're welcome! :) Out of curiosity, what is the value in using pnputil? For this driver I have only ever used the uninstall from the control panel method.. supposedly the Realtek uninstaller is very thorough.
To be completely honest, I have no idea haha. I just read it here a while ago, and I noticed that updating a driver over the other (E.G. going from 6.0.1.8036 to 6.0.1.8279) pnputil still reports the 6.0.1.8036 as installed. My angle would be, interference?
That's why I always uninstall and then fresh install, but I noticed with R2.82 and later releases, the control panel disappeared and that bugged me badly.
I guess I thought updating over 6.0.1.8036 would leave the panel intact, and it did. But after doing the fresh install (just did) the panel wasn't present until the 2nd reboot, so far, DooGie has a freaking great point. These are the best sounding drivers I've had in a while.
And loudness equalization works!

easy way to get control panel back is reinstall standard drivers for you mobo and then update with these or others of your choice it will leave the control panel alone and not remove it for if you ever have the issue again, i did this and have not lost a control panel ever again.

I suggested this a while back, but someone said it didn't work for him...
it has always worked for me.

I had the thought that the codec used might make a difference.. as when people express an opinion about sound quality, it might also be dependent on the codec they're using. My computer has an ALC283 in it.
I have bad hearing, so it's interesting to me how I actually can hear subtle differences between the drivers.. rather subtle though because they're all good enough for the most part and have been for a long time.
The video clip I like to use for quick testing is All About That Bass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PCkvCPvDXk, the reason is because it combines deep bass with very clear vocals at the same time. I feel it lets me listen for different qualities such as too much sound pressure, full body or too soft whatever, etc. Hard to explain but makes sense when hopping around different driver versions.
I feel 8245 sounds pretty decent with this, 8279 has a softness to it that I feel like it needs a boost.

I wonder what "supported hardware IDs" means in the catalog, when it appears as if any version will work for any device regardless of whether or not a supported hardware ID is listed.

I wondered about the same thing, especially that my HW ID never appears and they all worked.

You can also use your hardware ID to search the MUC and it will give valid results. ie you can do a search for HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC and you'll get results that work fine with that particular Realtek chipset.

I wish I knew what is going on with Microsoft and Realtek drivers. Version 6.0.1.8318 is now showing as 14 different downloads on the MUC, yes there are 2-bit and 64-bit builds and different builds for Fall Creators Update, Creators Update, Anniversary Update etc.
I want to know what the "For Testing" drivers are supposed to be. We never get a change log. For me all Realtek drivers are for testing as you can get completely different bugs with each build.
If anyone can make ense of the download list for version 6.0.1.8318 and explain it to me I'd be really happy :)

Hi,
@DooGie: Doesn't make sense to me either. I often use Station Drivers as a source for most of my drivers updates.
You'll get a setup.exe for RT drivers which as you know remove the old drivers before installing the new ones.
Much easier that way as I don't have to run third party programmes to clean the system up after an update.
Cheers,
