Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

With my Logitech speakers, everytime I browse a web page and then hit a link, I hear a slight pop sound. This is because the Realtek HD sound controller is power saving the speaker outputs aggressively as soon as there is no output. Due to the low impedance of the Logitech speakers, this means when the amps reactivate, the slightest noise is heard, in this case as a little but annoying pop. When sound is coming out continuously everything is fine. This has been an issue with previous Realtek chipsets on other motherboards and there was either a power saving option in the Realtek control panel to disable it, or a registry hack. Previously documented registry hacks don't work.

Does anyone know how to stop the soundcard from power saving?

    install FF00

bios cool in quiet disable c1e disable c6 enable apm auto

I've ben quite happy with 8612, so far!
I think, since you guys recommend it, to try 8627...
8627 is good, but the treble end sounds a bit too crisp on my system. Think I'll switch back to 8612. It sounds better balanced to me.

The windows 10 update just released disabled the audio port on my Latitude 3180s. It stays on internal speakers no matter what's plugged in.

The fix is reinstall old Realtek drivers (2) from the Dell site, then fetch updates again. The updates will update the old drivers PLUS add an additional file, Realtek media, which fixes the audio port.

Maybe some faulty dependency tree in the update distribution.

Since I just cleanly installed, I'm going to give the UAD drivers a shot and see if I can get them installed, with my thinking being that perhaps already having the RealTek HD Audio installed had somehow prevented the UAD install.

After the clean install, my audio output for the jacks controlled by the RealTek ship are labeled (High Definition Audio Device), both mic and speakers.

We'll see - but first I have to install other drivers for my system....

John, once installed, just plug-in you headphones and check that everything works as it's supposed to. In my case, the UAD drivers were installed correctly, the Realtek Audio Control was automatically downloaded from the store, but when I connected my headphones, the sound was not isolated to the headphones, but could be heard from the speakers too. That's why I dropped the UAD drivers and returned to the good old HDA ones.

I tried the new 8627 and although they sound good, they didn't impress me. So I stayed to the well-balanced 8612, for the time being.

Roger that. Hopefully it works - else I'll have to stick with 8627.

well look what we have here on MUC recently

I found a generic v6.0.1.8619 HDA (110.3Mb) listed there; there's also a 120.1Mb cab download for 8619 but that one is a UAD/SST combo driver pack for NEC

(110.3Mb cab link download for 8619)

supported hardware IDs listed for the 110.3Mb HDA download are the following:
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0255&subsys_11790749
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0255&subsys_1179074b
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0255&subsys_1179074d
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0887&subsys_1458a182
    intelaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0298&subsys_144dc176
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0892&subsys_1e39d005
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0295&subsys_1dc23108
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0269&subsys_1d051074
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0269&subsys_1d051075
    hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0269&subsys_1d051076

Brink can update the 1st link to 8619 HDA 110.3Mb download when he finds the time

Note/reminder: new 110.x Mb size HDA downloads will continue to be scarce with new driver versions as new Realtek driver versions on MUC are usually UAD drivers and not the traditional HDA drivers
