Version 6.0.1.8586 is available from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Unfortunately UAD builds only at the moment.

Thanks for the reply, I wish it had all those options ASUS provides. Unfortunately it just shows me two tick-boxes
basically translating to "Deactivate front connection pop-up-dialogue" and "Activate type detection of connected device" both of wich are completely expendable. It seems as if former versions of the UI still had the little wrench symbol in the lower right corner possibly to access those settings I'm missing. When trying to downgrade my Realtek version I get an error during installation so I'm forced to use the one MSI is providing on their homepage.
Any MSI users here having any thoughts on that matter?
Realtek High Definition Audio (HDA) Version 6.0.1.8591 WHQL
DOESN'T work with HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_1458A002 (Gigabyte MB)
although it is listed as supported in the ini files. (FF00 Generic).
Driver installs but there's NO SOUND. Audio test playback throws an error message. Using Windows 10 LSTC 2019 (1809 17763.194).
However, UAD Version 6.0.1.8591 DOES work very well. But there's a catch. The HW ID isn't listed in any of the ini files. I had to MANUALLY MODIFY HDX_GigabyteExt_RTK.inf. HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0867&SUBSYS_1458A0A2 was listed but not 1458A002. Funnily enough considering most end with A002 except the DEV ID is different. So I added my HW ID to the list. Then used UAD Inf Editor by @alanfox2000, and clicked "Make Sausage", which created an INF install package. All the INFs in the package installed fine HDX_GigabyteExt_RTK.inf because Windows said it couldn't find the hash for it in the catalog file because it was tampered. So I had to disable driver signing, rebooted. Right clicked the INF file > Install. Windows would say it couldn't verify the driver, proceeded to install anyways. And then it automatically downloaded the Realtek Audio Control app from the store, and Audio worked immediately, didn't even have to reboot.
If the audio works just fine (even better than before, I'd say so far) I'm extremely puzzled about why Gigabyte didn't include my HW ID in the INF files.
So maybe if your HW ID is not included you could also try to manually edit the INF files and it'll work too. I'd use the UAD version since it seems more compatible than the HDA version which did install but didn't work for me.
8591UAD .........great sound , these UADs are getting better after every new release lately...............
Hi guys! I'm new to this forum, i'm watching this thread because finally i found from here working driver for ALC892 for Windows 10 1809!!
As a new member here, i'm a little confused with UAD, HDA etc... And i can't find any page to explain so i could understand... What are all these?
I must prefer specific type for my ALC892 codec?
Thank you!
8591 now the nicest over the last few. Crazy!
Hi Konstantine and welcome to TenForums!
HDA are the traditional Realtek drivers, to be used in older hardware i.e before mid 2017, whereas the UAD ones are for new hardware and they are much smaller in size than the HDA ones.
You can see a more detailed explanation in this post by our Realtek audio expert @erpster4
