What do you mean volume controls? If changing the volume with the keyboard shortcuts doesn't show the volume bar on screen, you may need to install the "Quick Launcher" (or similar) utility from notebook's download site. If you have no sound at all, you need to install audio drivers. Be more specific so we can help you.
I have sound but cannot control it via keyboard controls. I can control it by clicking the sound icon. I installed the hotkey drivers from Lenovo but they do not work.
Did you install the hotkey utility? This should make the key combinations work. It is a driver, although placed in the utilities section.
Well, I didn't go through all the drivers and utilities for your model, but surely if you find and install the right one they will work. Unless they are faulty. Have you tried to do all Windows Updates? Maybe the required software will be installed automatically.
I played music today and found out they do work but they don't control the windows volume, the volume changes but windows does not show it happening
You mean that the volume icon remains the same, not indicating off, low, high etc? In this case the controls may affect only the currently playing volume, not the main volume. The volume icon shows changes in the main volume only. I wouldn't worry about that as long as they work.
Dear all,
Have you any update to share on this topic five years later ?
I have installed windows 10 20H2 on my THinkPad T60 and I have installed the version 8jvu23ww of HotKey Features Integration (this one works for TinkPad T61 on Widnows 10), but I can't use my volume buttons...
They work as @spapakons described in the previous post : the volume icon remains the same, not indicating off, low, high etc. The controls affects only the currently playing volume, not the main volume.
Has someone found a version of the driver that works beter : making a good synchronisation between Windows Icon and effective volume ?
Regards,
Please clarify, you mean that the volume buttons do not work at all, or they work but you have no indication on screen? If they don't work you may have to hold FN key while pressing volume up/down. To download proper drivers, go to Lenovo's support site and search with the model (part number), printed at the sticker, or even better with the S/N. If they work but you have to feedback on screen, again it might be fixed by installing proper drivers, but not absolutely necessary.
