Audio devices in Device Manager, but not in Playback Devices

    Hello everyone,

Laptop Samsung NP300V5A. Sound stops working about a month after Win 10 upgrade. No changes done at the time.

Audio devices show up under Device Manager, but not under Playback/Recording Devices. Same for Realtek Sound Manager - it doesn't see the devices. I can install, delete and update drivers under Device manager but it doesn't make any difference. It is not a physical problem, tested on Linux live CD.

    Solutions tried:
-Installing various versions of HD Realtek Drivers (including windows update version)
    -Installing/Removing Realtek software.
    -Enabling/Disabling devices under Device Manager
-Called spirits of ancestors. Seemed like it worked for a while, but ended up being a joke.
-Did system restore to various dates.
    -Restarted in safe mode
-Restarted various services such as Windows Audio, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, Plug'n'Pray, Power, etc.
-Checked system, application and driver even logs.
-Tried a couple of registry fixes. Angered spirits of ancestors. Turning gray..
    -Reinstalled chipset drivers
    -Rebooted about 30 times
-Sound Device Troubleshooting finds no issues
    -Display Disabled Devices is enabled

I've been looking for a solution to this issue for about a week with no result.

By what you have done, it suggests a Windows/sound corruption. Probably going to take a Windows reinstall. Sorry.

    This is from Acer forums:

Open Device Mgr. Go to Realtek properties. Check if a ROLLBACK option is available and try that. If not, uninstall the Realtek driver. Exit and reboot machine to let Win10 re-detect and re-install the driver.
Similar problems with other models too. Strange.

Oh, was sound working before, at any time?

Edit: Did you try to install Realtek drivers from Acer support page? I would also install Acer chipset drivers...

So I have it working using this driver (Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.8216_W10x64_A) but every time I turn it off. The driver disappears from playback devices and \I have to go through the install process which involves deleting the driver. (yup the computer says its there. it just won't use it) then restart. Then install driver and restart again... not acceptable in my books. any thoughts would be welcome....

Next time it happen, check the audio service is running. Also check reliability history for any errors.

Click Start and type services click on it, as it shows.

In Services window scroll down and find "Windows Audio"
Check, if it is enabled, set to automatic, and running. If it isn't, double click on it and change the Startup type to Automatic, then click Start, Apply
