    Revalation, or just plain stupidity

Wife asked me to put some tunes on a thumb drive to listen to on her way to the office.
She called me after she got there to say it wouldn't play in her car but would on her laptop.
I thought, crap, it's formatted NTFS. Told her i would fix it when she got home. Reformatted fat32 and recopied the songs back on the drive.
Next day, same message. I thought what the **** is up with that?
Neither of our vehicles have a cd player so it's radio or usb.
Tested it in my 2022 cherokee and yup, same issue. Looking at the usb drive
(known good) i noticed it was 3.0
Had an older 2.0 stick laying around so i tried that. Played fine in both cars.
With high tech in cars these days you would think they would have that issue in the rear view.
I know, not a windows thing.

There's only one possible answer to your question. It should also be "added" to your car songs USB...

These were mp3's. My wifes car is 2020 Ford edge. What make of vehicle do you drive?

@fishingfool, for info... I had a similar issue inasmuch my daughter's 2007 Nissan Note wouldn't recognise an NTFS-formatted USB2 stick but happily plays MP3's on the same USB2 stick re-formatted as FAT32.

    Hope this helps...

    Ghot:
How did you find that excellent video? I sent it to a friend of mine who just bought a 2024 grand cherokee. She liked it too but said if she tried that stuff. the engine would be blown, trans smoked and it would be upside down with no wheels. i kind of agree. Don't make 'em like they used to. When I first picked up mine, they parked it on a 4'' raised concrete platform with a jeep hat and a rubber duck on the hood. Said it was a "Jeep thing".

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to bring along a usb 3.0 drive on my next new vehicle test drive.
