Can't Turn On Speech Recognition Windows 10

When I press Windows button + H it says, "To use dictation, go to settings and turn on online speech recognition."
Then when I go there it is grayed out. I have a mic hooked up and it shows it's working.
I'm wanting to dictate in a Word document. Thanks!
Okay I now read it's only available on Pro, Education and Enterprise....I think. So that's why it's grayed out? Can't Turn On Speech Recognition Windows 10-screenshot-2024-03-02-132420.png

How to Use Dictation to Talk instead of Type in Windows 10

It doesn't seem restricted by Windows edition.

    - where did you see that?

Note you have to be on line to use it.

However, that red text suggests you have some registry tweak equivalent to a group policy that may be responsible.

Have you used any kind of 'privacy' tool or registry tweaker, or does the PC belong to a company?

    See:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...b-de55c8d7c2ae

    - which suggests a registry fix.

There is also (as the message hints) the older Windows Speech Recognition... e.g. simply use taskbar search and search for
    Speech Recognition

Set Up Speech Recognition in Windows 10

There's also dictation for Office (depending on your version) e.g.

I don't have Office so know nothing about this.
