    Sound Card Purchase Dilemma

Just purchased Sound Blaster Audigy FX. Creative is a company in business for a million years, without live chat or a phone contact number; very shameful indeed.

I cannot install the driver for this card. The info included with the card says to use the provided link and download the right driver. For an outfit like Creative that cannot be easily reached, I am returning the card.

Best buy for one, only has one card, also a Sound Blaster. Living in Anchorage Alaska, am limited to electronics in town.

The Audigy FX I got, I don't want to send Creative a message and wait too long to pass the return date of this card.
What option would one recommend for a card and source. I need a card with five connections, and in the range of not more than $50, including shipping (to Alaska). An outfit I can contact for support if need be.

    I have Windows Pro 10 x64.

    Cheers.

Seems odd, I have one and Windows installed a driver automatically.
Anyway here's the driver and software page. Creative Worldwide Support - Sound Blaster Audigy Fx

I’ll try to see if Windows would install the drivers. The card came with instructions to download the driver from the link in their installation setup.

Is Windows seeing the card. I'd pull it out and reinsert it a couple of times. Make sure it's seating.

    Hello folks,
I disabled the BIOS Audio, then re-installed the card. The Device Manager sees the Sound Blaslter, but I can't install the software.

If Microsoft installed the software, no sound produced.
I tried to install the software, but can't.

I still have till mid February to return the card.

It looks like you're speakers aren't connected to the soundcard. Are they still connected to the Dell Monitor? If so unplug them and plug them in the soundcard.

Ooopsy, I did not connect it to the new sound card. Now, it's connected.
However, I'm still not getting things right, don't know why am having issues with this card.

    1. I have the system Audio disabled in the BIOS.
    2. When I turn on the volume level to 50%, I start hearing a very high pitched noise, the higher the volume the louder.
    3. Just curious, why are all the entries in the "Playback" and "Recording" still showing "High Definition Audio", and none showing "Sound Blaster"?
    4. I still cannot install the Sound Blaster driver.

    Thanks.

Here's mine, if you right click on the playback screen you can uncheck 'show disabled/disconnected devices'
Have you a microphone attached somewhere?

Looks like there is some kind of hardware fault, that particular Sound Blaster Card is very old maybe 10 years or so.
If that has been in stock long it may have picked up some of that black industrial dust/dirt/film, so I would clean the PCI connector contacts. Try a different PCI-E slot.
Also check the Electrolytic Capacitors, the black/grey larger components on the board. If they have a crack in the can at the top or brown gunge leaking out then they are probably dead. If that is the case return right away.
