    Pop up volume control interface

Just recently, I started seeing this volume control popup on my desktop

    Pop up volume control interface-screenshot_1.png

One way it's generated is by these keys

My problem is that, apparently, there is another way to generate this aside from those keys. I assume I'm doing something else to cause this, because I don't travel to that part of my keyboard, and more frustrating, I can't figure way to get rid of it, until it goes away by itself, which is sometimes a matter of maybe 10-15 seconds, but usually a lot longer, while it remains persistent, blocking whatever is behind it.

    Can I disable this?

In another post you asked about extending the time that notifications remain visible. If you managed to adjust that then it could be why you are only seeing this recently.

You can hide it via third party software.

Thanks so much. Amazing that you remembered that and connected the dots!!

BTW, for anyone else with this problem, I might have missed the latest version 1.4, if I didn't read the comments there, How to get rid of the Volume OSD in Windows 8 / 8.1 and 10 | Venturi.de, Download, HideVolumeOSD 1.4 for Windows 10 and 11 | Venturi.de

I've got v1.4 now. He did mention that "Ease Of Access" setting you referred to (Settings / Ease of Access / Other options / Show notifications for) . I had changed it to 15 seconds

So., you think maybe that set things in motion? As we see, I set it back to 5, so we'll see what happens, and if necessary, I'll install HideVolumeOSD.

I see a phone instead of Windows, so this may vary or not apply? I know Jack and Squat about phones.

In Chrome based browsers go to "chrome://flags/" (adjust to edge://flags/ or whatever) and setting:
Hardware Media Key Handling = disable

In Foobar2000: Preferences > Advanced > uncheck: Integrate with Windows Universal Volume Control

I have yet to find a way to nuke the annoying thing system wide.

I reckon that's why you're only seeing this now.

About that image, sorry about the misconception. The problem is not phone related. I wanted to illustrate the volume control the way it appears when superimposed over a page, and that's the Youtube page I chose, I should have mentioned that, My bad.

At first, I wasn't sure what that "chrome://flags/" reference was,, but then, as you know, I was reminded of the Chrome "experimental" area, so I am disabling it there as well.
