Sound is from both headphones and speaker ?

On my new windows 10 pro build when i have my headphones selected i get audio from them and my speakers. The headphones are plugged into the front io and the speakers to the rear io.

Seems i have tried everything. I do not want to have to disable the speakers each time i want to use the headphones only .

    any suggestions ? thanks

Do your sound card or your display card provide a 'control panel' of any kind?
That's where I would expect to find such options.
Look through your Start menu for anything with the sound or display card maker's name on it [or any use of sound / audio].
I only mention the display card because some include 'display audio' drivers so might include audio controls.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Most PC Speakers have a 3.5 mm Headphone output socket, a useful feature, so just plug in there that will mute the speakers.

If you do not, then you will have to look at whatever Audio Software/Control Panel is provided.

If you disable the rear speaker connection can you still use the speakers?
If the speakers have a headphone socket then you can connect the headphones via this.
