Question about my PC without sound, Plz assist

Hi all,

I just finished formatting my PC, the computer is soundless now, and I found that the "Audio inputs and outputs" in the device manager has no Realtek audio, my PC can only detect the sound signal via HDMI from my LED monitor speaker, but not the external speaker (the green output jack on the rear panel of motherboard).

I am sure I plugged tightly the external speaker to the green jack, reinstalled the latest Realtek sound driver, tried another external speaker but still seems motherboard cannot detect any plugging from green jack...

For this scenario, is it possible that's hardware problem of green jack? Anybody can tell me what happened?

You didn't install your realtek driver. You are using Microsoft's generic audio driver.

I bought another motherboard and use default Windows 10 audio driver and solved now, that confirmed the fault of green jack, thanks all

Onboard Realtek HD Audio jacks can be auto sensing. If that's your case you need to use the Realtek HD Audio Manager or Realtek Audio Console app (this normally depends on what the motherboard manufacturer has included in the Realtek HD Audio driver installation package that you should install after you have downloaded it from the motherboard manufacturer's official website for your specific motherboard, so look for the correct motherboard model). When you plug an audio cable into the green jack, the Manager or Console detects this and lets you choose between Line In and Line Out (or between Line Out and Optical via Toslink on some motherboards). To be able to use it for playback through an analog audio cable, you need to select Line Out.

I tried this method already, the main point is either Windows and Realtek software cannot detect anything after plugged in any speaker to greenjack

The issue is not that you installed realtek's driver and it didn't work on your old motherboard.

The issue is that you installed microsoft's generic audio driver on your new motherboard.

On my ASRock B450 board it behaves just like that until I install a Realtek driver. The MS default driver identifies the Realtek Audio Device, but does not "see" the individual jacks, plugged in or not.

I like the good old, standalone HDA versions (6.0.9239.1 FF00), but a UAD one works too.
