Toggle Keys Notification "beep" not working.

Googling for this, I found a 2020 thread on the forum which didn't help.
The "beep" was last heard yesterday and the only changes were two updates to "Defender" from yesterday and today.
The on screen keyboard is also "mute"

My machine is a Medion Erazer, X6823 (MD98254) MSN30014987 circa 2014 originally supplied with Windows 8/8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10 Home in 2016.
I encountered driver nightmares with touchpad which made the pad unresponsive and sometimes also the keyboard!!
Microsoft and Medion between them sorted a Synaptics driver for the touchpad dated August 2015, (no longer hosted by Synaptics) so I have copies squirrelled away all over the place because MS Updates used to replace it with current at any opportunity despite my best efforts to dissuade them!
Microsoft Communities have a locked thread which is of no help, anyone have any ideas what might help?
Just thought I'm just going to try a re-boot to see if maybe that clears it!

Yay! that brought back the "beep"!
I've updated this thread rather than deleting it, since it might help others with this irritation!

Happy it's fixed. Please mark as 'solved' to save people reading.

As to protecting your driver: see
Prevent Windows Update from Updating Specific Device Driver
    - and there's a registry option in it for Home.

@dalchina Thanks for the link but as I recall, when I was suffering random driver updates from MS, there were two options available, excluding the reg edit, that's a bit too squeaky bum for me!
The two methods were, as I vaguely recall, either block all driver updates, which I considered a bit heavy handed, and the other option which I can't recall but it failed to protect the driver on major updates to Win10.
this meant I could only communicate with my Laptop via USB Kb and mouse to re install the old driver and restore order.
Fortunately, since Microsoft have lost interest in W10, my chosen driver has not been deposed.
I do though live in fear!

The BORG will no doubt assimilate you in due course.
