    Awful feedback aftermarket microphone.

The speakers are Bose and marvelous for everything playback related.
The microphone is the one built into a cheap generic webcam.

I know the physics involved, but not how to fix it.

What I'm looking for (if possible) is something to do with either the microphone or the speaker set up using Win 10 settings or control panel. I did it long before (in Win 7) but I forgot what I did. I've been fiddling all morning.

Or maybe some simple software app designed to zap feedback?

    Thank you for any help.

    Areas to check

    - Mic to close to the speakers
    - Microphone boost which makes the mic more sensitive to sound.
    - Consider making a wind sock for the mic, just tape a strip of foam on the hole for the mic and punch some holes through the tape first if you are crafty then you should be able to make it look neat.

Do some testing you should watch your mic meter in the sound panel and then play some audio on the speakers and then if the meter starts moving on the mic then you know the mic gain/boost is to high, turn it off or lower it, if it still happens after this then its just a bad mic or there is more deep seated issues happening.

Webcam mics are often poor quality not always though. Consider getting a headset or a desktop mic.

I'll stick with the cheap generic mic if I can because it's only for occasional use (and not permanently plugged in).
I'll check the other things today and report back later.

Greatly reduced feedback, though did not eliminate it.
    I'm calling this one "solved".

    Thanks.

Yes. That is one of the things I did.
