Adventures in getting Echo acoustic cancellation to work

Now I am assuming alot since I only have 2 motherboards to test, but, anyone hear anything about EAC needing spatial sound to work? It seems to be working consistently with it enabled on 2 mobos I own, only down side it utterly disabled surround surround, and with spatial sound on in windows setting/CP its locked the realtec audio console to 2 channel only.

Is there a way for me to enable surround sound and spatial sound in the registry? In generations before(15xx/am3+ and 1200 I think) I did not need spatial sound, it just simply worked in removing echo/computer output from the mic.

It seems they are forcing a thing that dose not need to be forced.

PSose anyone know if win 11 has this issue as well?

EAC should not effect or rely on anything to do with your sound card.

Its the motherbaord audio, it and noise cancel dose not seem to work unless I turn on spatial sound, its very strange. But that seems to be the case on 2 diff OS and 2 mobos.

It use to just work fine before the dark times of universal realtek drivers..

Sorry when you sand EAC i thought you meant the anticheat i was skim reading at the time.

Spatial audio is for headphones --- so it is stereo by design. Also if you are using headphones, you don't need acoustic echo cancellation because there is nothing to cancel as the microphone cannot pick up sound from your headphone which is seal off into your ears.

Seems to be a bug in how realtec audio console updates which mode you are in, if EAC or noise cancel is not coming on, switching spatial sound forces it on.

Its very strange, at this rate I will have to go back to hardware before the uni realtec driver nonsense... that or find a sound card that supports EAC.

Or a simpler explanation is that acoustic echo cancelation only works in stereo mode, not 5.1. Leave the spatial audio out of the equation all together.

Thats the thing tho, even in stereo mode it dose not always kick on,even if you change defaults and then back, even if you reboot.
