which was ?
Sorry. I'm new to Audacity.
I was erroneously convinced from previous success that Windows Sound settings had allowed me to select Speakers as input. I spent almost all of my time going through the *Sound* settings. I couldn't get anything but Line-in or microphone for input. In desperation I posted here to get a clue as to how to have Win 10 allow *Speakers* to be the input device.
I also went through the toolbar items at the top of the Audacity GUI and made some changes, and changed some of the preferences in the Import/Export area. It was only after reviewing (again) my sound settings and updating my Nvidia driver - and giving up - that I went back to Audacity and hit on "Audio Setup" (not on the toolbar) that I saw the drop-down list in Audacity has line-in AND Speakers, irrespective of what the Windows choices are for Input.
After selecting Speakers as an input device I can record as expected.
Thanks for your excellent support.
