The thing about Equalizer APO is that it's system wide but you can set it per device. I tend to only apply it to headphones so it's handy. And of course you can add multiple profiles.

That's useful. I don't see where to do any of that but it'd be nice if I could automatically disable the compressor plugin when playing something from my music player.

Choose a device, make some changes and click "Save" choose a new configuration name and save it. it will then show up in the left pane and you can select any configuration,

Oh and I only tried a VST plugin a couple of years ago so don't know much about selectively disabling plugins. Maybe someone else knows?

That'd be nice but I don't think it's possible to automatically turn off a plugin based on the app that's in use.

Thanks I found one called Rough Rider 3. Works nice, probably better than Loudness Equalization. I noticed Loudness Equalization is a bit more aggressive in lowering music volumes compared to this, but less aggressive than Rough Rider when lowering some sound effects. Overall I think I like it more.
Nice find. Thanks for letting me know!

and what kind of computer is it since you did not mention it in your user profile's specs?
if it's custom built, then mention the motherboard brand & model used in it
