    Realtek audio install problems

Hi am new to these fourms and i am trying to get expert adivce as to why i am having Realtek audio install problems, on my msi z490 a pro, i know its not my motherboard thats the issue, it does this on otherboards boards that are recent aswell. i know microsoft has forced realtek to use the universal drivers so microsoft can for cunsumers to use the built in audio manager and charge for it at the microsoft store, so basicaly the universal drivers work, but iam trying to install the realtek drivers with the audio manger without using the ms store.

I have attempty the orginal motheboard disc with the audio drivers i get a driver failure error -0001
i use other realtek drivers for many sites the same problem
i went to the realtek website and downloaded the 2.82 driver same thing

and this is with a fresh install of windows and no anti virus running and the lasest bios for my motherboard
and the lastest copy of windows 10
and proir to this my sound was working fine and i had the audio realtek audio manager installed
but once i installed windows 10 a fresh install all the problems started happening so hopefully someone that knows what there doing can help me out thanks cause this is very fustrating, i want my realtek audio manger working to have to adjust the eq and other setting, this is a must i need to enhance the sound when playing competitive games like warzone

Firstly, you should uninstall the audio drivers using DDU. Download from here - Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

    Reboot after the uninstall.

If you want the HD Audio Manager you can only use the HDA drivers. Not the UAD drivers. I get mine from here - https://www.necacom.net/index.php/realtek/hda

HDA drivers are becoming less frequently updated and harder to find. Sooner or later Microsoft will control every aspect of your computing experience, unfortunately.

Note that if you are using an ALC4080 audio chip you're out of luck. HDA manager will not install on ALC4080 audio chip set motherboards. This chip set is still plagued with several problems. Ideally you want an ALC1220 board.

If your motherboard support nahimics and you want to use it you need FF03 drivers. FF00 is generic. Generic drivers will work on most if not all boards. Personally I find Nahimic to be a total waste of time. I have confirmed this on several Z490, Z590 and Z690 motherboards, including ASUS, MSI and ASRock.

Once you have cleaned out the old installation install your new download. Let us know how it goes.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried this on the latest version on Windows.

Hi Wobitancrawfodi, i used ddu to clean the realtek drivers already, and i apprecate the link will give the hda drivers a go.
this msi z490 A pro only uses the realtek 897 audio codec, also that's good to know the newer audio codecs like the alc4080 chips dont support audio manager and have problems i never knew this, in the future i am will be agetting a sound card so i don't have this bs problems with microsoft and realtek again

i will note i did get some realtek modded audio drivers to work for the time being, but i will try these officaly drivers you listed thanks a lot for the help

according to the specs on the MSI web site for the Z490-A Pro board, it uses either Realtek ALC892 or ALC897 for audio and has no 3rd party enhancers like Nahimic. so using FF00 HDA (nonUAD) drivers is fine as MSI has a 6.0.9151.1 FF00 driver on their web site (even though that one is not specifically listed for the Z490 A board).

one more thing: AVOID using the 2.82 driver version from the Realtek web site (please stay away from that one) as that one was released in late July 2017 and is only designed for older PCs & motherboards made before late 2017 and the MSI Z490-A board was released in early 2020 & needs HDA drivers made in 2020 or later
