Background
They have been created by an Olympus DS5000 device. But very, VERY irritatingly Olympus don't seem to supply ANY free software to play them!

e.g. I found "Olympus DSS Player Lite v2.1.1" but it only seems to play .DSS format and not .DS2 format files.

In fact I can't even find anything (that is genuinely free) that can convert .DS2 files into something like .WAV or .MP3 files.

I am surprised that their own software is NOT capable of playing them.

[1] Have you looked to see if there is a software update?
[2] Have you contacted them to either see if there is a future update, or asked them what they recommend to play the files?

I found an archived tiny version of a portable app that can play ds2 files on windows. Tested and played a file no problem.

The ds2 standard also supports encrypting files with an optional password, but DssPlayer cannot open those.

Correct. Password protected files can't be played.
