PC in a Normal Start up mode makes a sound of Safe Mode start up

Windows 10 Pro. OS Build: 19044.1466 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0

I had setup the PC to start in Safe Mode through msconfig and later installed two Microsoft updates which somehow messed up the Normal Start-up. To rectify, I uninstalled the Microsoft Windows Updates and I tried to make some changes through Command prompt to repair BCD settings see on a website.

PC now does start in Normal Mode but with with a screechy sound as heard when PC is made to start in Safe or Recovery Mode. Msconfig shows normal settings i.e. Safe Boot Off.

BCD edit/repair commands are not being accepted..

Please advice any solution short of re-installing Windows.

Hi, forgive the obvious question- do you have a recent disk image of your Windows partitions?

(The routine and regular use of disk imaging is endlessly recommended here so you can recover relatively quickly and painlessly from many issues without clean installing and without technical help, whether they be disk failure, unexpected or self infllcted).

E.g. Macrium Reflect (free/paid), Aomei Backupper etc...

I do have backup and have already reinstalled C drive partition from it but unfortunately it did not help.

I had also made some changes to the hard drive partitions on PC before reinstalling C drive partition from the backup but I am unaware if the other two partitions (as in photo) in the back up can be helpful in this case.

Please advice if I should reinstall the other two partitions from the backup or perhaps try any other options.

    Many thanks

Thanks. Assuming you restored an image of C: created before you made the changes you described related to msconfig and updates, I wouldn't have thought that would help.

Given the BCD changes you've attempted, two routine things you might try are
    a. Run Windows Startup Repair
    b. Get a copy of Macrium Reflect (free). Create its boot disk; boot your PC from that and run its fix boot utility,

I'm not familiar with a screechy sound...

    Adviced actions performed:

    a. Run Windows Startup Repair: Every time I have tried to run Windows Startup Repair from Advanced Startup - it fails to start. I also tried to run it through Windows bootable media but again the Startup Repair fails to start.
    (Srt.text log enclosed)

    b. Get a copy of Macrium Reflect (free). Create its boot disk; boot your PC from that and run its fix boot utility:
Running Fix boot utility made a small improvement i.e. the desktop background in Safe Mode turned black again with Safe Mode written on all four corners. This had stopped happening when the problem of start up sound (beep) while starting in normal mode arose.

On other hand after running this utility the option of Startup Repair under Advanced Startup has now disappeared along with one or two more options that were there.

Screechy Sound:: Perhaps I am mistaken to term the issue as a 'screechy-sound'. It is a one-off beep which is being produced when the Dell logo is still on at the Normal Start Mode. Normally, this beep would only be heard if the pc was being started in Safe, Reset or Advanced Mode.
I am unable to upload the sound file here

Not sure if relevant, one of the Command says Windows RE Status is Disabled. (pic enclosed)

Kindly advice of any further steps that can be performed.

    Many thanks

That sounds like you've lost the Recovery partition link somehow - I guess you're referring to advanced startup started from your internal disk, rather than booting from your installation disk, then via 'Repair your computer'...

    As it's disabled, try
    reagentc /enable

You may need to run that twice.

You may be hearing a DELL beep code- I'm not sure:

Odd. An in-place upgrade repair would fix that, or any next major feature update. It's not essential- you have an installation disk.

It is possible to build a Recovery partition manually, but I wouldn't bother.

    You could try
    reagentc /disable
    then
    reagentc /enable

... you might get lucky I suppose.

I also suggest you take the opportunity to check your disk(s) as a matter of routine.
Hard Disk Sentinel is excellent - great appraisal right on its GUI. Functional trial.
Basic SMART check- no interpretation- Crystal Diskinfo (free).

Dell Beeps: This issue of single beep at Normal Start-up had never happened before on this Dell AIO pc but was always produced when starting in Safe, Reset or Advanced Mode only.

I feel that the issue is not hardware related and has arisen after I had made some changes through Command Prompt and also having made changed to Hard Disk partitions that contained standard Windows repair/startup utilities.

You could restore the other partitions- try to get back to where you were.

but was always produced when starting in Safe, Reset or Advanced Mode only.
    Odd.
