Redlining white noise from mic input after Windows21H2 installed
I've been running Windows 2004 on my PC but after the end of support and also having update issues messing up my system I decided to buy another SSD and do a clean install of Windows. I'm now running 21H2 and have found that when I went to use my microphone instead of getting a nice clean sound of my voice there is now an unbearable full tilt redlining, "white noise" emanating from the mic input. The cable is fine, the connection is fine, I've also done every method of driver uninstall /reinstall /the mic troubleshooter/Microsoft online chat help, which ended up being of no help at all. The thing is, the mic works clear as a bell if I just log out of my new SSD and log into my old SSD with 2004 version.
To me there seems to be an incorrect assignment of another signal from somewhere in Windows, as the level of the sound coming from that input cannot be adjusted in the sound settings, it's as I said "redlining" and the only way to stop it before it sends me deaf and blows my system up is to disable the mic. It's the type of sound an incorrectly wired device would make, as in where you connect the wrong wire on the wrong terminal. As I said there's nothing wrong with the mic itself as it works fine in the other version on the other SSD. This only occurred after installing the new Windows version.
