    It's remotely possible that the AC plug where you have the desktop power plug installed isn't grounded correctly.

    Humming can be created by front audio panel sharing a ground with front USB.

    Speaker humming can be created by a failed capacitor (which is designed in the circuit to filter out the 60Hz cycle hum)

    In all 3 cases, humming is usually a grounding issue.

    A Dell OptiPlex 755 is a 2008 era machine. Lots of potentials for hum problems.
