When you buy a laptop, it's designed to not be able to easily mechanically break itself. So, playing loud audio is okay. I suppose you could damage the speaker, but with new tech that's unlikely.

You could play a sound into it, when recording something else, that could cause damage something, but not whilst playing YouTube videos on your laptop.

I played the video, it's not loud, really. Just has no mid range, it's all bass and highs.

Sorry for late response, but yeah that does make me feel better. Still, I just can't help but feel something is off. Like, from what I can tell by the last day or two it seems all my emulator's have had a marked decrease in performance, same with streaming speed's while watching movies online.

I did have a media player open in the background when this happened, but it was paused so it should be okay, right?

Edit: Ran error checking on all three of my drives, thing's appear to be okay, so one good bit of news there.

Hello. Has anything else changed? Any updates? Media Player won't have caused it. I'm not sure where to go with it, if everything checks out okay, maybe it is. Could it be that you're looking more at the performance, more than before and you are noticing things that were there anyway.

My machine can be faster on some days than others, just depends what it's doing in the background. Sometimes it will take ages to shut down, other times it almost just switches off.

Very possible, as I've always been a'little too jumpy when it come's to the condition of my hardware so it's possible I'm noticing thing's that aren't there.

Recent testing with PCSX2 has shown massive stuttering when playing FMV's particularly those of Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, though, that has been resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling pcsx2 three time's.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Old Door on Dolphin seems to have some kind of issue when the rest of the game lay's just fine, but when the paper flipping effect happens the frames drop by more than half, despite using a version that claims issue had been resolved.

Edit: I also got a new cooling pad that decreases my CPU temps by 5-8 degrees, original; 50 or so at idle, new; 42 or so at idle.

Hello. It's hard to say, I think. One last idea, what's it like without the cooling pad. Could it be drawing too much from the USB circuit?
