This is a software forum. There are better forums for hardware questions e.g. reddit techsupport.

There is a hardware subforum: https://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/

Perhaps the moderators will move it there.

Do you really need a discrete sound card? The onboard sound in most PCs is pretty good these days.

If you insist on a discrete sound card, make sure that supports a PCI-E X1 interface (not PCI). Also make sure that it had Windows 10 drivers. (Some cards for sale may not have updated drivers.)

I don't know which maker to recommend. I've used both, but neither for a number of years. (My current desktop audio uses a USB interface - no sound card or drivers.) Creative may have the stronger online support community. I've seen driver packages that were modified by 3rd party experts that provided updates sooner than Creative did.

The number of audio jacks may vary on different sound cards and onboard adapters, I have a couple machines with only 3 jacks and 1 with 6 jacks. The common output on all is the light green jack.

These days, unless you have a specific need for a discrete Sound card the setup included on most Motherboards is totally adequate for normal use - Audio playback via speakers, some or more accurately most motherboards will include a 5.1 (surround Sound) system which will drive a set of front and rear speakers including a bespoke Subwoofer.

there are often additional digital outputs, either SPDif optical or a USB - both of which will require external hardware in addition to the speakers - It may be a better idea to use the inbuilt option and use the money saved for a higher quality speaker / amplifier system.- suitable for your needs especially if you are a gamer who wants high volumes for "realism"

If you do decide to go for a discrete setup, I would personally go for ASUS as Creative have a history of not supporting devices well - preferring to sell more hardware when a OS upgrade happens, rather than update the existing drivers

Most motherboards come with a sound adapter built in, you'd need to check the manual for yours to get what it supports. Same for an Add-in card.

Look at the number of audio sockets on the MOBO I/O panel.
If it has 6 audio jacks then it will support 5.1 audio
If it has just 2 or 3 then it will not support 5.1 audio.

The audio chipset on the MOBO may well support 5.1 audio but if there is only 2 or 3 audio jacks then there is no 5.1 audio.

That is what it is saying in your red square.

If you look at Back I/O specs it says (2) Audio ports.

No idea why a manufacturer would do that.
In that case if you want 5.1 audio you will need a separate Audio Card.

Many years ago I used a Creative Sound Card, in those days it was the de facto standard sound card.
