    Latest HDA and UAD is compatible to ALC887 depending on the board maker.
    HDA is most compatible.

    6.0.9468.1 works both on Realtek HD Audio Manager and Realtek Audio Console/Control!
    OK, that is just weird. Think I'll just stick with what I had (9326). Why would the UAD App version even be installed if you're running HDA?
    /confused

    There is nothing to "test" anyway.

    I wrote the sticky tutorial over 3 years ago. Realtek releases approximately 1 driver update per week, so I have literally tried over 150 drivers. There are no sonic differences.

    Mokichu automatically deleted his older driver package every single time when he releases a newer driver package. So he doesn't believe any sonic differences as well.

    then stay with the HDA FFxx driver of your choice and NEVER update to any new version because there may not be a new one
    why can't you just stick to what you have, pietcorus2?
    stay with 9326 HDA FF00 (or whatever HDA FFxx driver version you like) AND NEVER UPDATE!

    also remember that HDA drivers (from versions 6.0.8xxx/9xxx) have FFxx designations (ex. FF00, FF01, etc.) and UAD/DCH drivers have no FFxx designations whatsoever. HDX FFxx based drivers have the following entries in the INF files (like hdxrt.inf & hdxsst.inf)

    [IntcAzAudModelAddReg]
    HKR,Settings,EffectComponents,0x00010001,0xFF00
    no such entries exist in UAD/DCH drivers

    the 6.0.9468.1 driver version danny c mentioned does NOT have generic HDXRT.INF & HDXSST.INF or HDXRTSST.INF files {and no RAVCpl64.exe & RtkNGUI64.exe files, which are the EXE files for Realtek HD Audio Manager}

    and hardware ID for the Realtek HD Audio device on a given system (that "thing" I most care about)

    see this Microsoft page about Hardware IDs and how to find one for a device in Device Manager:
