    Hello!
Any idea what should i choose for this friend's computer https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04802690 that has a Realtek 2-channel ALC221 codec?

windows 10 automatically installed a DTS Surround app if it matters.

It is for everyone who has a UAD (Universal Audio Driver) on their system.
If I'm not mistaken, your friend needs a HD driver according to ALC221 specs.

You people are too lazy to download a 20 MB file (which takes 5 seconds to download).

If you just download 1 of them at least just once in your life, you would know that the inf file names tell you that they are acer, dell, hp, LG, MSI... So this MUC cab file is "all oem". It doesn't take a genius to figure out aceraio is "acer all in one", acernb is for acer notebook/laptop, hpnb is hp (consumer) notebook/laptop, hpbnb is hp business notebook/laptop, dellcsmb is dell small business line of computers.

And if you see 2 different cab files of the SAME version number but 2 different download size (11.9 MB and 11.4 MB), you will immediately know that 1 of them is "all oem" and the other one is specific to 1 manufacturer (in this case Asus). The 11.4 MB MUC cab file is 0.5 MB smaller (it's a compressed file) because it doesn't have all the other inf files.

    6.0.9489.1 UAD (all OEMs)

*P.S. Thanks to sandyt for explaining things to those who might not know, or as you say, are too lazy to find out.
    Appreciate it

I apologize for not responding lately. my family & I are currently out of town for several weeks because of my brother's transplant surgery for a new kidney that took place in early April in another state/province. my family & I will return home after Mother's Day as I'm currently using the internet from a hotel and won't be online as much.

your friend's hp elitedesk 800 g2 computer has 6th gen intel core hardware and only qualifies for using standard HDA drivers, not the newer UAD/DCH drivers, iakoboss7.

iakoboss7's friend's HP computer is from the Win7/Win10 era w/ skylake (6th gen intel graphics hardware) and MUST use HDA (non-UAD drivers).
Download & install the 6.0.9273.1 HDA driver from MUC onto the HP computer

I own a Laptop from MSI GT70 2PE Dominator Pro. May i am blind but it seems there are no sound card drivers on their support website no matter what OS you choose:
    MSI Deutschland

At this moment this driver is installed and i noticed sound distortion while playing games.
    6.0.1.7324 / DirectX 11.0 / HD Audio / ALC892

Also a tool named "Sound Blaster Cinema AP" was installed. I believe to remove it for limit the error.

Anyway is there a chance to update the driver to eliminate or mitigate the sound distortion?

Would you give me support or any advice? Thank you in advance!
