If all else fails, use something like this and just set the volume to max on the computer and adjust the volume to the lowest on this and then change if necessary:

The only way to have separate volume level is to make front panel a separate device.

If the popping sound only occurs when it wakes up to make a sound and when it stop making a sound (and goes to sleep), then it is a power management issue that can only be fixed by driver updates.
You can see Realtek's technical specs on their audio chipset has a "anti-pop" feature --- aka we can wake up and sleep our audio chipset without making a popping sound. The problem is that it doesn't always work.

If updating to the latest Dell driver doesn't help, contact Dell.

I tried latest driver from dell for my laptop and it still pops. I also found newer from x15 r1 laptop which has same realtek chipset. But still pops. Now i tried to use DDU while in safeboot to completely remove Realtek and then installed latest driver from Dell. I need to test it for a little longer.

So today technician came and replaced my motherboard. It was fine for like 3 hours and it came back so it is definitely driver/software kind of problem.
As I said earlier, it is a power management issue.
Either is Dell making very aggressive power saving settings to prolong battery life or that their Waves MaxxPro Audio/Realtek driver combo have a certain power management bug.
