MSI Z270 XPOWER Gaming Titanium board. Looking for UAD drivers that work with it which will allow me to install the Realtek Audio Console app from the store without having to pull my own hair out, lol.
This probably will not be helpful to you, but I have an MSI B450 Gaming board that supports (read: tries to force) Nahimic, and UAD driver. After many attempts with many driver versions, and the M$ Store erroring out on installing the control panel app, then finally getting one installed and seeing what Nahimic actually is (buggy, inferior, limited trash piggy backing on the default realtek effects/options)...

...I decided to just keep the old, generic HDA drivers instead. Of course mine had a wee little ALC892, not ALC1220, so not sure what fancy features you might have to give up that I did not?

I've been using 9045 UAD for some time now. It's a good driver and I didn't try anything else since till now. So, I have now tried 9238 and well, I think 9045 was better.

Too many variables are in play now. OS version (I'm on 10), codec chip (ALC 283 for me) even whether you're using exclusive mode or shared directsound (I have both set up), whether you have audio enhancements turned on or off (off for me), whether you're using 3.5mm or usb (3.5mm here), whether you're using surround or stereo (stereo with a sub here, 2.1 system).

Even what audio renderer you're using for your video player (there are multiple, and they don't all sound the same, I like the MPC Audio Renderer in Exclusive mode).

Because of my particular hearing challenges, one thing I care about the most is "are vocals clear with some bass present?".

By that metric, I don't think 9238 on my system is an improvement for vocals.

I tested one more version after that, 9215. 9215 is loud enough and ok, I could use it but it doesn't sound as smooth on vocals. Feels like there's more rasp in it.

    So, still on 9045.

I'm having the thought that comparing a moving target to what you used previously is tricky because you get used to how something is and differences can be subtle. Maybe it's necessary to also compare to a previous favourite as well.

Edit: Took a listen at 9137, thought it sounded harsher. 9045 has a slightly warmer tone for me.

    Thanks guys (mates).
Noticed that the Realtek Asio Component's driver is still 1.0.0.8, 3/24/21. Is this the latest?

By any chance do you guys know what Microsoft Films&TV app (Movies&TV) does with the sound exactly that makes it sound so much louder down-mixing from 6 to 2 channels from the other media players? It basically sounds sort of like the Realtek loudness equalization option, but that's turned off for me. I can't figure it out, it's much louder, even if I have the other players use Windows for the down-mixing. I don't think it's gain.. I turned the gain on one up 3.0 dB which is 100% more and it's still not as loud.

On reflection, I think it is normalization that is always turned on in the Windows app. If I turn that feature on in mpc-hc, it sounds similar but not identical.

You Misread my Post it says for Manufacturers OTHER THAN Asus....or was supposed too :)

For Asus Driver you can still use MokiChu's Packages, but he no longer posts them here or for MSI, Gigabyte, AsRock etc like he used too,
The above is his advice to me for my Gigabyte and MSI Boards.

    DCH/UAD ...used on my Laptop
[DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (NB | Intel 2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx & AMD Ryzen Mobile)

    HDA for Older Mobo's
[DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (MB | Intel 6x/7x/8x/9x/1xx)

Ask on the ROG Forum if you are not sure what Driver to Use.....
