Old HDA configuration app cannot be used in DCH drivers.

If you want to use Windows 10 Enterprise with no Microsoft Store, then buy a HP or a Dell corporate business computer model --- they will come with DCH drivers and its configuration apps in their driver download packages.

HDA drivers don't impact performance --- but the 8703 HDA has an unpatched security vulnerability.

either from this Asus ROG forum thread or from this Ten forums thread post
btw, MoKiChU has v6.0.9191.1 HDA driver

note - please do not expect much HDA (nonUAD) driver updates nowadays as there might be a serious shortage of them since many PC manufacturers are providing UAD/DCH based audio drivers on their modern systems

Already tested and my opinion: on 9228 the highs; like with high hat and cymbals, sound a little clipped, and the bass a bit heavier than my now favorite 9209.

I've always wondered this. Why have constant releases? I always love latest and greatest. I mean, if it's fixing a bug or crash issues is one thing, but they reach a particular version where the actual sound is perfect say, but then upon releasing others they end up bad again, until again, at some point they are good again? What actually changes overall? You'd think you'd keep whatever keeps the sound perfect alone and only update things that really require it. I was just thinking out loud.

Quote from a post I made in MoKiChU's thread when someone asked about the same thing(please go to the links I posted to get a better idea of the Realtek SoC's and why they tinker a lot, and remember how many different SoC's they are creating drivers for):
They never say, sometimes the OEMs like Dell and HP post the changelog, but the updates are usually just security, new hardware support for CODECs, DACs, Op-Amps and so on, adjustments to gain, and filters can also be done too.

Realtek chips are system on a chip actually(SoC), here you can get a bit of information about them and maybe understand why updates are needed:

I have a Dell Inspiron 7537 which has the latest Dell supplied Realtek HD audio version 6.0.1.7564 dated 21/07/15. This provides the Dell audio utility shown here:

I installed driver version 6.0.9132.1 as mentioned here in the first post via Device Manger. However, this driver still links to the same Dell Audio utility as shown above which now no longer works. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.
