My windows update says that there is an A-Volute software component 3.3.3.0 available, but I can't find it on MUC. is that typical? Should I install the 3.3.1.0, and then update it to 3.3.3.0 via windows update?
I've yet to get that update, I'm still on 3.3.1.0... anyhow, it does happen that something is available via Windows Update (or even Microsoft Store) and doesn't (yet) appear on MUC.
And yes, I'd install 3.3.1.0, then update it to 3.3.3.0. This way if anything goes wrong, you can always roll it back to the previous driver (which, speaking from experience, works fine).
In the picture below, you can see the audio components of my audio device.
Besides the base driver and the Software components, a DCH (UAD) driver also installs a few Extensions (marked in yellow), which serve as customization and/or integration layer of audio components.
Extensions are not available to download from MUC. They are only offered via Windows Update.
You can check the installed audio components in your system, by running the script in Option 1 of the post Determine the DCH (UAD) Realtek driver needed for your Audio
Yeah, same for me. Using the PowerShell script method, it is listed under "Software Component Drivers", not an audio extension.
(Thanks for this info!)
