Is there no other method to install UAD drivers so I can install those off MUC?
Try this tutorial to install and update official DCH (UAD) drivers

    Please note:

The most important part of the FAQ is:

During the transition from Legacy drivers to Windows DCH Drivers you can only use the Installer (.exe) provided by Intel or your computer manufacturer. Refrain from using any other installation method such as "INF/Have disk installation." Failure to do so may result in minor to catastrophic issues or system instability.
If your motherboard manufacturer, doesn't provide a driver (even an outdated one) , it means that your motherboard doesn't officially support DCH drivers and you either use the good old HDA ones or take the plunge with pal1000 drivers.

Now, if your motherboard manufacturer does provide a driver, after installing that DCH (UAD), if you like to see which audio components got installed, try Determine the DCH (UAD) Realtek driver needed for your Audio, to get an idea of the Realtek drivers installed, as well as any third party ones (Nahimic, Fortemedia etc), so you can update them from MUC in the future.

Hello, I would like to slightly correct you on this. What is quoted is taken from Intel website and valid for Intel DCH Integrated Graphics driver. Some Intel drivers are usually more complex than average driver, and the wording uses "may" but not "will".
Realtek drivers can be installed by simple right click on the extension inf and selecting "install".
Or, simply using "pnputil /a extension.inf /i". There is no need for intricate installers for all extensions.

This is the crucial step, other parts (codec, software components) are normally installed by selecting "Update driver" and pointing to its inf file. At least it's how most people are installing them.
Driver-wise, Intel drivers have more intricacies that are not known or documented which order they have to be performed, but let me mention this: I had Intel Gfx DCH driver infinite reboot/reinstall problem when using exe installer, but then Intel technician solved the issue by telling me which inf file to choose in "Update driver". Problem solved without catastrophic consequences for my system whatsoever.

    Cheers.

Normally, you go to your OEM/manufacturer web site and download (usually outdated) UAD package that contains extension inf file. That file is crucial and doesn't exist on MUC. But it's only used once to create software components and then you go to MUC for the latest version.

I just looked in the 9198 driver from MUC and unfortunately your board is not supported at all. However, pal1000 driver supports your board through partial HWID match.
But even if you could update from MUC, it makes no sense as pal1000 drivers are ~3 weeks ahead of MUC so you would be essentially downgrading your drivers.

Anyway, seems you are stuck with pal1000's releases.
Do you reckon I'm better off sticking with updated HDA drivers instead then?

    You have 3 options:
    1. use pal1000 driver
    2. search Gigabyte site for UAD driver that possibly supports your board, then update from MUC
    3. use one of the latest HDA drivers

Since 2 can be very time consuming without finding what you need, I would choose 3. Choose 1 if you feel adventurous.

EDIT: I just recalled that MUC driver (HDXGigabyte.inf) doesn't contain your board's HWID, so you don't have option 2, it's either 1 or 3 and I would definitely go for 3.

@MoKiChU has just posted an update to 9209.
I just finished testing and comparing 9209.( See my post here: Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [3] )
It is the perfect balance between 9200 & 9205
Definitely a keeper, and probably the best, I think it even beats 9137, which has been the long running favorite of mine.

Once more, Thanks a lot Cliff, for your review!
Always to the point and according to my ears and taste, the one I follow!!!

I can't use the MoKiChU DCH drivers on my hp laptop, but I wait to get this version from MUC (usually 2-3 weeks later).
