    Stop sounds changing

I have a PC and and my wife a laptop on a home network, but not synced. We have different sounds for incoming mail, but periodically the sound designated to one will transfer to the other.
How can I stop this happening. It is not a big job to reinstate them, but very irritating. We both use Thunderbird for emails.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I feel reasonably certain that although you say they are NOT synced - something is synced relating to thunderbird/browser .
Although I do NOT doubt what you say that the two computers are not synced in the meaning of the term sync devices.

I suggest if you are using a default windows sound for message notification you use instead Thunderbirds ability to use a WAV file from your sound library - different on each computer of course.

Thank you for your helpful reply. Not being that technical, could you tell me where I find wav files please? I tried the search box, but that didn't help. The Thunderbird method would obviously be the solution if I can locate files.

Update. I have found files, and assigned each computer the desired one using your Thunderbird method. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
Thanks again for you help, really appreciated.

    Cheers
Hope the solution I suggest works.
I advise you not to use the windows included sounds
I suggest if you are using a default windows sound for message notification you use instead Thunderbirds ability to use a WAV file from your sound library
    download your chosen WAV
Email Wav, MP3 sound files at the Sound Archive.

as I said different for each computer of course.

I do not use Thunderbird as I said, but I have read of 10 changing the selected sound, when using the provided WAV sounds from Windows - Media
I have not read of it changing when using sounds NOT from Windows media
Sorry for NOT explaining that at first more fully, I have a selection of WAV audio on my computer and overlooked the fact that you may not.

I used a Windows wav file, but installed it via TB, as per you helpful instructions. I did this on both computers, so hopefully problem is solved. I will let you know if there are any problems.
Once again, thank you very much for your help.
