    Hi,
    my microphone stopped working.
    - forgive the obvious question- have you tried using a System Restore point created before this occurred?
(Only available if you've ever enabled System Restore).

Inspect your Update History - did you receive any updates around the time this started?
Towards the bottom- also look at driver updates.

What is the model and aproximate age of your laptop?
Please post a link to its driver download page from the manufacturer.

Click 'My computers' below my post for comparison. Tutorials available on how to obtain and add specs.

Hi, you need to do a little more...

Go to these places as well:
Settings > Privacy > Microphone > Mic access On.
Allow Apps to access your microphone > On.
    Choose Apps > On.
    Desktop Apps > On.

In your 3) image > Mic Properties > Levels Tab > Mic/Mic Boost > increase levels.
    Apply > OK.

Please update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

Open the computer manufacturer's website > support > enter the model, or serial number > view drivers > post a URL / link into this thread
