    Audio popping and scratching

    Hi all,

Since building my new PC over 6 months ago, I've had terrible audio problems on any form of media e.g. Twitch, Youtube, TeamSpeak, Discord etc. I've tried most guides online with setting playback rate, trying new cables, different drivers, editing regedit. If it fails, I just do a fresh install of windows. My audio set up is a Schiit Jotunheim 4490K DAC built in so my PC isn't processing the audio, so there must be something else but I am in the dark about this and require help as I am near breaking point. Any other questions and I would gladly answer them and pay even to solve this problem, hope to hear from someone soon, EssDee.

What type of USB port is the DAC connected to - USB2.0 or 3? Is there a High speed setting in the driver software? It may be defaulting to USB 1 speeds if that's not set.

It's normally 2.0 but trying all ports e.g 3.0 & 3.1 - the driver that is in use by the DAC is in the screenshot - https://i.imgur.com/cHQgtmz.png - not much that can be done with it as far as I am aware of.

    Any other suggestions?

There are reports of problems with USB on B550 and X570 mobos which are solved with an upcoming firmware release - but most reports are for ryzen 5 series processors. Might be worth a try when released.
Did you install all chipset drivers that came with the mobo? - Just looked and see there is a very recent bios (F33f) which lists (amongst other things) "Improve USB 2.0 devices stability and compatibility" might be worth a try.
