Built-in microphone on earbuds not being recognized

I am using "Sony - EX14AP Wired Earbud Headphones". I only have one multi-functional jack, which is picking up the headphones aspect perfectly, but is in no way recognizing the microphone. I haven't messed with any settings regarding my microphone before and I've followed several online tutorials and possible troubleshooting from multiple different forums and websites; all it has done is sent me in circles with nothing even coming close to a solution. I've been in every nook-and-cranny of my system relating to audio, microphone, headphones, speakers, auto-play, etc. I've tried "adding a new device", I've looked in every drop-down box, I've updated my system and windows, and have gotten absolutely no help.

It's even more baffling that everything was fine with my old pair of earbuds, which was the exact same model. I'm getting frustrated not being able to use my mic properly; the one built into my laptop picks up sound improperly through applications that I'm using which is bugging me and the people I'm trying to talk to. Has anyone had the same problem and found any possible solution?

Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > manually expand all rows > look for any row displaying a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark or unknown device > post images into the thread

Run these troubleshooters > post images of the detailed results

Open administrative command prompt (ACP) and type or copy and paste:

    %systemroot%\system32\msdt.exe -id AudioPlaybackDiagnostic
    %systemroot%\system32\msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
    %systemroot%\system32\msdt.exe -id AudioRecordingDiagnostic

Post images of the detailed results.

Open the website for the computer manufacturer > support > enter product ID or serial number > view drivers > post a URL or link into this thread
