How to permanently disable system sounds?

I've tried lowering the volume in the mixer as well as muting the audio with the icon at the bottom. The sound setting changes back to being unmuted and at full volume at random times, often without me restarting my computer at all. For instance if I put those settings as muted, and start a game through Steam or something, once the game starts the settings will most likely be reset. I'm looking to find out how to prevent this. If someone could help that would be great.

    Go to Settings/Sound/Sound Control Panel.
Select Sounds Tab and then set Sound Scheme to No Sounds then click Apply.

I have mine set that way as I also use my desktop for my recording studio and I don't want any system sounds interfering with recording.

Other option, since sometimes they can be enabled back.
    Code:
rem Delete Windows Default Sounds (Permanently)
    reg delete "HKCU\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps" /f
