ITunes not working

I installed iTunes in my W10 pc (with the latest update) to enable me to transfer music (mp3 tracks) to my iPhone 7 at first this seemed to work fine. I connected the phone via usb and it showed up in iTunes as expected and I was able to drag and drop a few tracks across. However, It has now frozen and I can neither copy tracks to the phone or delete them using iTunes. I can still delete tracks on the phone itself but that is all. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes but to no avail. Has anybody got any ideas as to what could be going wrong here?

Further to my earlier post I have now discovered a very good video on line which has helped me and I now see how to transfer music tracks using iTunes. I have also discovered that I can listen to music using the i Cloud by transferring tracks here which does not use any memory on my phone. This latter method of course only works when i am connected to the internet.
