Audio Takes About Five Seconds to Actually Play

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with playing audio on Windows 10 Home. After I installed a Windows update today, I noticed that my audio, for a lack of better words, now takes five seconds before sound is actually audible. This is especially annoying when trying to edit audio in Audacity (something I'm trying to do at this very moment); I'll press play, Audacity appears to be playing the audio, but it doesn't actually become audible until, at least, five seconds later. I fixed this issue before, but I didn't save the instructions I used because I didn't think I'd come across this issue again. I already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Realtek High Definiton Audio drivers, but that didn't solve anything. I think how the issue was fixed before was, it had something to do with the audio service, again, for a lack of better words, shutting itself off after a minute or so of no activity; but unfortunately, I don't remember how to disable this function.

Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! :)

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've tried looking for the solution myself again, but haven't found it yet...

Never had this issue,...no doubt win update changing settings somewhere,..You could try running the sound troubleshooter,as a first step...also id make sure i went to the realtek site and reinstalled the driver from there,(rather than from Device Manager),..i had win update mess my realtek driver up a while back,..(a known issue fr that upate),..and doing that fixed it..

Some more complex solutions here,..didnt have a huge amount of time to look through it...if you edit the registry,make sure to back it up first,..im sure you know how to do that..,if not post back nd,ill post easy instructions..

Thanks, Wolverine 7! That last link you gave me, the one that takes me to another forum post on HP's website, was what I've been searching for, as all of those other solutions have not worked for me.
