    Windows 10 / No Notification Sound

    I am using latest version of Windows 10 and realised that I don't get any notification sound (such as email notification, device connect, critical stop etc.). For example when a new email arrives a notification bar appears under the right side of the screen but no sound. I've checked options in email app; both "show a notification bar" and "play sound" options are enabled. And everything is on at "notifications and actions".

    Also "new email notification" & "desktop mail notification" sounds are selected at Sounds (sound scheme). When I click on play button I hear nothing.

    Please note I do not have an issue with sounds (while listening music, playing game, watching film or youtube etc.) in Windows 10 but how can I get these notification sounds? I really need that.

    Thanks

    Have you looked in settings -> sounds -> notifications and actions -> and checked "Allow Notifications to Play Sounds"? Also, look at "sound control panel" (right side of that screen)

    Issue is that if I go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Sounds and test any of the sounds for Asterisk, Calendar Reminder, Critical Battery Alarm etc... I get no sound.

    If someone can suggest a solution to this issue I would appreciate it

    Thank you.

    Hello @jaburmester,

    Just a couple of ideas.

    [1] Has the laptop got a key to turn the sound up and down?
    [2] have you tried these?

     Hardware Troubleshooter

    Run the Hardware troubleshooter. This checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device[s] or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.

    [1] Goto Control Panel.
    [2] Type Troubleshooting in the search box.
    [3] Click on Hardware and sound under Troubleshoot computer problems.
    [4] Click on Hardware and devices under Devices.
    [5] Click on Advanced on the Hardware and devices dialog box, select Run as administrator.
    [6] Click Next [ follow on screen instructions to complete the Hardware and devices troubleshooter ].
    [7] Try the device again.

     Change Default Audio Device

    [1] Open Settings.
    [2] Goto System --> Sound.
    [3] Under Sound, click the Choose your output device drop down menu [ right-hand side ].
    [4] Select the required output device from the drop down list.
    [5] You might need to restart the App [ like audio players ] for the change to be implemented.

     Enable or Disable Sound Output Device

    [1] Open Settings.
    [2] Goto System --> Sound.
    [3] Under Output, click the [B]Choose your output device]/B] drop down menu [ right-hand side ].
    [4] Click on the Device properties link [ just below ].
    [5] Under Device properties, uncheck Disable [ if it is checked ].
    [6] You might need to restart the App [ like audio players ] for the change to be implemented.

     Set Audio Output Device For Apps Individually

    [1] Open Settings.
    [2] Goto System --> Sound.
    [3] Under Sound --> Other sound options, click on the App volume and device preferences link [ right-hand side ].
    [4] Select the desired audio output device for any of the Apps that play sounds from the drop down list.
    [5] You might need to restart the App [ like audio players ] for the change to be implemented.

    You can also change the sound level for system sounds. It also includes controls to mute Apps, change the master volume level, and select output and input devices etc.

    Here are some links that may be useful:

    I hope this helps!

    Just in case you have overlooked.......
    Settings > System > Sound > right side, Choose your output device.....
    Is that the correct device chosen?

    Also, try out the options listed in that page, i.e. Troubleshooting etc.
